CIO Tim Chester in conference
The chief information officer (CIO), reporting directly to the Provost, is the university’s highest ranking technology executive. Responsible for the implementation and accessibility of information technology and systems, the CIO is also a key contributor to the technology vision for UGA, where IT touches every aspect of the educational process.

CIO Dr. Timothy M. Chester provides the thought-leadership and tactical perspectives necessary to guide the university in developing effective IT. He also implements, through the Enterprise Information Technology Services, EITS, the university’s strategic goals in academics, research, and outreach.

Currently, the Office of the CIO is comprised of Danna Gianforte, Associate CIO, who leads the Application Development and Data Management division (ADDM), along with the infrastructure group, and the data center areas. Additionally, Lynn Latimer is Assistant CIO for Planning and Engagement, Mike Dennis has responsibility for research computing and the Health Services Campus IT planning, and Greg Ashley works on policy projects.
