Gigabit Migration and NetWare

A how-to on changing NetWare network information

When your environment is converted from the legacy campus network to Gigabit, you will be issued new network configuration numbers by the Network Operations Center (NOC). For your NetWare server to function properly, its network configuration will need to be changed to reflect these new numbers.

The information you need to obtain from the NOC, or your DNL, is:

• Your network mask: It will likely be 255.255.255.0, but it may be different.
• Your gateway address: It will likely take the form of 128.192.X.1 where X is the number for your subnet, but it may be different.
• (Optional) If you are running IPX services on your NetWare server, you will need the new IPX network address number.

Once you have collected this information, you will need to update your NetWare server accordingly. Please click on the links below for instructions on how to do this.
