Communications
Mission
Lead all communications, marketing, and public relations initiatives in support of the vision identified by the UGA Chief Information and senior EITS leadership necessary to return the University of Georgia to the role of state and national leader in information technology and to be recognized as the first source for knowledge and expertise in the area of information technology.
Strategic Directions and Primary Initiatives
The EITS Communications Division leads all organization communications, marketing, and public relations strategies related to the creation, distribution, and maintenance of online, print, and video materials, as well as the training and knowledge-sharing activities to support the mission, goals, and core responsibilities of the organization. The division’s four areas of concentration are as follows:
- Communications, marketing, and public relations leadership and direction
- Event planning and coordination
- Online and instructor-led training coordination and support
- Web services consulting and support for the UGA Office of Public Affairs and other UGA offices as a consequence of knowledge transfer and expertise
Major Projects
- Develop comprehensive content management system for EITS and CIO Web presence
- Develop an IT Expertise Database to organize a cumulative knowledge base of expertise in to support the sharing of information, expertise, methods, and ideas
- Coordinate EITS involvement with Summer 2008 new student orientation sessions
- Expand UGA virtual tour to East Campus areas and improve user interface
- Partner with various units on campus regarding campus-wide events, including the Computer Health and Security Fair (Spring 2008) and the Learning Technologies Showcase (Fall 2008)

- Promotional campaigns to engage campus and increase awareness of the overall value of resources and services provided by EITS
- Engagement of new students through summer orientation program
- Coordinate on-campus and off-campus community involvement and development efforts in concert with EITS leadership team

- Communications planning to support additional EITS service offerings and changes to existing EITS service offerings
- Internal newsletter
- Web services consulting and support for the UGA Office of Public Affairs and other UGA offices

- Instructor-led training in the areas of newsletter and graphic design
- Classroom training coordination

- Press release production and distribution
- Video production, including the UGARama (UGA’s Virtual Tour)
