National Cyber Security Awareness Month events at UGA October 23

ATHENS, Ga.— In observance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the UGA Office of Information Security has scheduled several events to take place on October 23. National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a national campaign designed to increase the public's awareness of cyber security and crimes issues so that users can take precautions to avoid these threats on the Internet.

"The Office of Information Security participates in National Cyber Security Awareness Month to enhance, enlighten, and empower our community against crime on the Internet," said Stanton Gatewood, UGA's Chief Information Security Officer. "SATE (Security Awareness, Training, and Education) is the best return on our investment for lowering the risk of living and socializing in Cyberspace."

The events begin at 9:00am in the Tate Student Center Georgia Hall with keynote speaker Bobby Stanley, Special Agent for Cyber and High-Tech Crimes from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The complete agenda for the day, including times and locations, is a follows:
