Student Technology Fee awareness campaign continues with new stickers

ATHENS, Ga.— A new Student Technology Fee (STF) sticker has been designed and is ready for placement on STF-funded equipment. According to Bert DeSimone, Communications Officer for EITS, there are two versions of the sticker available, one physical and one virtual. "The former is for placement on computers and other equipment purchased with STF funds. It comes in one size: .75" by 1.5". The second is for placement on Web sites and comes in several sizes."

The new sticker is part of an awareness campaign focused on highlighting the many uses of the Student Technology Fee at UGA. A Web site (techfee.uga.edu), launched in April of this year, features services and resources funded by the Student Technology Fee, including the Romance Languages Language Resource Center, the Drama Department, the Law School, the Terry College of Business, the UGA Observatory, and the Artificial Intelligence Robotics Lab.

Alan Ferrenberg, Director of the CIO's Business Office and student liaison, has spent a great deal of time working to have the stickers upgraded. "The old sticker (DigiDawg), while it did identify equipment, wasn't really suitable for use as part of a comprehensive awareness campaign, in particular for signage and as a graphic for Web sites. The new graphic was designed to serve these multiple purposes. The goal was also to have a graphic design that was clearer and cleaner, with more of a UGA look. Incorporating the Arch into the graphic helps accomplish this," notes Ferrenberg.

He also noted that all equipment purchased with Student Technology Fee funds will be stickered. "As of three weeks ago, Property Control is placing the sticker on all new STF-funded equipment," Ferrenberg says. "Over the summer we will be working with colleagues across campus to place a new sticker on every currently-deployed piece of equipment that was purchased with STF funds. The goal is to have all 9000 pieces of equipment stickered by the time students return for the fall semester."
