Planning for information technology at UGA includes engaging students, faculty, and staff through Compact Planning ATHENS, Ga.— The Office of the CIO and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) entered into a collegial and negotiated approach to strategic planning for information technology in 2005 called Compact Planning. This process is designed to engage the campus in an ongoing process to identify high-priority initiatives and needs in concert with the institution's strategic priorities and goals. The process is also designed for long-term planning for information technology core infrastructure, systems, services, and applications. Current initiatives, strategies, and activities, in addition to background information regarding the Compact Planning process, can be reviewed at the Planning Cycle Web site: http://www.eits.uga.edu/planningCycle The Office of the CIO and EITS continue this commitment to information technology as a strategic asset of the University. As a strategic asset, the enabling and innovative functions of IT for the instructional, research, public service and outreach, and administrative systems and services is central in providing the highest level of customer service possible to our students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. In order to provide this level of service, and to plan for the long-term needs of the campus community both on-and off-campus, the Fiscal Year 2008 round of Compact Planning will begin September 5 with general sessions for students, faculty, and staff. For a complete schedule, see the Compact Planning Web site: http://eits.uga.edu/cio.php?l=2&c=compact For additional information, please feel free to contact Greg Topp at gtopp@uga.edu / 706-542-5110. Please also accept our sincere appreciation for your time and effort in helping move the University of Georgia forward in planning for one of its most critical strategic assets: Information technology connectivity, functionality, expertise, and support.
