bert@uga.edu Campus Web Service information and documentation Web site gets wiki upgrade ATHENS, Ga.— The Campus Web Service (www.uga.edu) documentation and information Web site has been updated with new information and a new look. "We've updated the Campus Web Service documentation to better serve UGA students, faculty, and staff," said Brian Whigham, EITS system administrator and creator of the new help site. "User's will find a much friendlier, searchable interface to assist them in the creation, development, and advertisement of departmental and student organization Web sites." The Campus Web Service currently hosts over 1000 departmental, student organization, and similar institutional Web sites. It offers a Web hosting solution that meets the needs of typical organizations and departments. The new documentation and information site is available at the following Web address: "We are very pleased to offer updated documentation to our clients," said Whigham. "We are using wiki software to maintain and enhance the site. All EITS Help Desk and server management staff are able to keep it current, making it will be much easier for us to provide our clients with the latest information about features, tools, package versions, procedures, security, site promotion, and more. Wikis are being increasing common on the Web as a way to develop and distribute information collaboratively. The Campus Web Service wiki allows documentation developers to contribute to the site while, at the same time, allowing public access to the available information. Whigham went on to explain that anyone planning a Web site for a department, unit, lab, or any other institutional entity should visit the information and documentation Web site to determine if the Campus Web Service is a suitable hosting solution for the site. Those who already have Web sites hosted on www.uga.edu should also visit the information and documentation Web site if questions or problems arise. EITS also offers a service for personal Web pages. Information on this service, known as MyWeb, is available here:
