IBM Mainframe upgrade scheduled for February 25, 12-hour downtime

ATHENS, Ga.— After consultation with many campus units who utilize the IBM mainframe for student and administrative services, EITS has selected February 25 to perform an operating system upgrade.

"This upgrade is critical to the IBM mainframe, which supports the University's business operations and student information systems," said Mike Dennis, Associate CIO for Customer Service, Operations and Infrastructure. "The new operating system will also add functionality that is vital to our processing needs and requirements, while ensuring that we remain current with supported operating system and maintenance levels."

The upgrade will take place on the following schedule:

Start:   12 a.m., Sunday, February 25
Finish:  12 p.m. (noon), Sunday, February 25
