IT Compact Planning sessions begin September 22

ATHENS, Ga.— The Office of the Chief Information Officer and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) continue their commitment to information technology as a strategic asset of the University supporting the mission and strategic priorities of the University. As a strategic asset, the enabling function of IT for the instructional, research, public service and outreach, and administrative systems and services is central in providing the highest level of leadership, service and support possible to our students, faculty, staff, and external constituents.

As many of you are aware, the Office of the CIO and EITS entered into a collegial and negotiated user-driven approach to strategic planning for information technology in 2005 called Compact Planning. This process is designed to engage the campus in the identification of high-priority information technology needs and requirements; the process is also designed for long-term planning for core information technology infrastructure, systems, services, and applications.

In order to provide for the required level of service, and to plan for the long-term needs of the campus community both on-and off-campus, the FY09 round of Compact Planning will be September 22-30. Specific information regarding the general session and individual group sessions is available on the Compact Planning Web site at eits.uga.edu/compact. In addition, you can learn more about Compact Planning by viewing the Compact Planning video available on the EITS IT-TV Web site located at eits.uga.edu/it-tv.

Recognizing how busy members of the University community are, if you cannot attend one of the sessions scheduled September 22-30, please take the opportunity to submit your thoughts regarding priority needs and requirements through the online Compact Planning Feedback Form located on the Compact Planning Web site. For additional information, please feel free to contact Lynn Latimer, Associate Director for IT Planning and Decision Support, at 706-425-2920 or by emailing llatimer@uga.edu.
