ATHENS, Ga.— After consultation with many campus units who utilize the IBM mainframe for student and administrative services, EITS has selected October 26 to perform an upgrade of the IMS database system from version 8 to version 10.

This is an important database upgrade to the primary enterprise system that supports the University's business operations. This upgrade will ensure that EITS remains current with supported database release and maintenance levels. IMS Version 10 offers key improvements, including enhanced scalability, manageability, and improved integration.

The upgrade will take place on the following schedule:

Start:   12 a.m. (midnight), Sunday, October 26
Finish:  7 a.m., Sunday, October 26

Human resource, financial, and student applications, including OASIS, which reside on the IBM mainframe will not be accessible during this downtime.
