The expansion is part of the overarching project to extend wireless access to all areas where students learn and congregate, including classrooms, study areas, student lounges, and other instructional and student areas. "We have expanded wireless capacity to over 1000 simultaneous users at and around the Miller Learning Center regardless of which floor or area they are in," said Dustin Deadwyler, a network administrator specialist with EITS. "Before the upgrade, there were limits on each floor. That is no longer the case." Other campus areas recently upgraded include the Coliseum, the Life Sciences Center, and the Tate Center. "We have essentially doubled the user capacity in these areas to over 900 simultaneous users," said Deadwyler. The wireless classroom project is being funded by UGA's Student Technology Fee. Since its Fall 2000 inception, the Student Technology Fee has provided students with computing equipment in the Student Learning Center, Internet support to students living on campus, the aforementioned PAWS wireless network, and many other technology services.
