bert@uga.edu CIO and Associate Provost Dr. Barbara A. White serves as chair of University System of Georgia's Administrative Committee on Information Technology
White assumed the role of ACIT chair in April 2009 after serving as chair-elect for the past year. In her role as chair, White will provide leadership for information technology in higher education in concert with the CIO's and other executive IT leadership at the 35 University System of Georgia institutions. "I am looking forward to working with my colleagues throughout the state, the Office of the Vice Chancellor/Chief Information Office for the University System of Georgia, and the Board of Regents through the Chancellor's Office in the areas of strategic planning, policy development, and technology improvement to ensure a successful future for IT in the University System of Georgia," said White. "In the original charge to the ACIT by the Chancellor in 1989, he emphasized that all University System institutions be involved and represented in setting the direction for IT in the System. It is truly an honor to provide leadership in setting this direction for the next year." The ACIT focuses on policies and procedures affecting information technology within the University System. These include, but are not limited to, the areas of electronic communication networks, computing hardware, administrative information systems, academic information systems, and other computing activities. The ACIT also serves as an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor for Information and Instructional Technology/Chief Information Officer. More information on the committee is available on the ACIT Web site: usg.edu/acit
