Video produced by Enterprise Information Technology Services garners Award of Excellence

ATHENS, Ga.— Be UGA-Alert!, a video produced by Mark Jordan, a digital media professional principal in the EITS Communications Office, has received an Award of Excellence from the Association of Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services.

Produced in partnership with the UGA Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Public Service Announcement (PSA) has been used on Web sites and broadcast on university channels to promote the UGAAlert emergency notification system.

"I'm really honored and pleased about this award, which comes as a complete and pleasant surprise," said Jordan. "I wanted to make something that would stand out and would be both entertaining and serious."

"Often, we encounter many challenges in promoting a culture of emergency preparedness on campus, but the UGAAlert PSA is of great value in assisting our office in broadcasting our preparedness message," said Steve Harris, director of the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness.

The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) was founded in 1947 as the world's first scientific and educational computing society. Its membership is approximately 83,000 with headquarters in New Your City.

The video Award of Excellence is one of several annual communications awards sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS). SIGUCCS sponsors the awards to recognize outstanding publications developed at college and university computing centers.
