The CISSP is the most recognized credential in the information security field, and the first information security credential to be accredited by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) to ISO (International Standards Organization) Standard 17024:2003. IS0/IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard is an international standard which sets out criteria for an organization's certification program for individuals "The understanding that comes with this certification will enable the university to improve many of our security services through alignment with industry standards and best practices," said Rivers. Rivers received the CISSP through the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, commonly known as (ISC)2.
