eLearning Commons to replace WebCT by 2010

ATHENS, Ga.— Brought to you by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), eLearning Commons (eLC) is a new online learning environment for posting class materials, communicating with students, and managing quizzes.

eLearning Commons will fully replace WebCT by January 2010, although UGA faculty and instructors may begin teaching with eLC as early as May 2009. The software behind eLC is the new and improved version of WebCT/Blackboard Vista. Our current version of WebCT will be replaced with Blackboard Vista version 8, and will be known as eLearning Commons.

EITS and CTL will also offer training workshops for eLC starting on April 1. Courses include Designer Quickstart, Gradebook Management, Learning Modules, and Quiz Management.

A complete list of courses, course descriptions, and workshop registration can be found on the eLearning Commons Web site (elc.uga.edu).
