Recent issue of Columns features mobile learning with iTunes U
at UGA
ATHENS, Ga.—
Robert Eithier, an IT professional in EITS, and David Noah, coordinator
of emerging technologies at UGA's Center for Teaching and Learning, were
quoted in a recent Columns article on iTunes U at UGA. The article
focused on the way that iTunes U is "changing the way UGA students,
faculty, and staff learn and communicate with each other."
Kay Sweetser, an assistant professor
of public relations, explained the advantages of iTunes U use in the classroom.
Sweetser states in the article

that "by allowing her students to download her
daily class lectures, the students become free to participate instead of
scribbling notes. It's also a powerful tool for self promotion and a way to
keep track of what exactly happened in class. It can
help students decide whether or not to take a class."
About the CTL
The central mission of CTL is to provide campus-wide leadership on
matters relating to instruction. By coordinating a wide variety of
programs and activities, CTL serves faculty, administrators, and
graduate teaching assistants (TAs) in each of the university's
schools and colleges. Teaching is promoted as a fundamental
enterprise at UGA through numerous campus-wide activities. These
include instructional grants, consultation services, faculty and
TA development programs, publications, activities planning, and
teaching resources and media services.
