eLC to be Unavailable During Upgrade

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

UGA’s learning management system, eLearning Commons (called eLC), will be unavailable during an upgrade that will start on Saturday, December 27 and will end on Friday, January 2, at 5 p.m.

The University System of Georgia is upgrading to a newer version of Desire2Learn, which powers eLC. This upgrade will result in an outage of eLC for several days.

The upgrade will mostly improve existing tools of eLC and will not include a design change. Thecomplete list of changes is available at the Center for Teaching and Learning's website.

Please note that eLC will be unavailable until after 5 p.m. on Friday, January 2. Classes for spring semester start the following Monday on January 5.

Instructors are encouraged to plan in advance with this outage in mind.

eLC is jointly supported by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS). Please be advised the EITS Help Desk will be closed for technical support when the University is closed December 25 through January 1.

Instructors who need technical assistance with eLC during that time, or any time, may contact the University System of Georgia’s Desire2Learn Help Center.

CTL will offer eLC drop-in assistance for instructors in December and January.

EITS will provide technical updates about this change on its Status page.
