Additional residence halls to receive wireless upgrades

Friday, October 14, 2016

EITS and University Housing are continuing to upgrade wireless service throughout residence halls this academic year.

During spring and summer semesters, Russell Hall, Brumby Hall, Creswell Hall, Oglethorpe House, Mell Hall, Hill Hall, Boggs Hall, Church Hall and Lipscomb Hall received new wireless access points throughout their buildings to enhance wireless service.

Soule Hall, Busbee Hall and Vandiver Hall will receive wireless upgrades soon with additional residence halls to follow during spring semester.

Based on a survey in spring 2016 regarding PAWS-Secure wireless, EITS and University Housing developed a plan to upgrade wireless service throughout residence halls.

Russell Hall served as a pilot for the program. In that building alone, more than 300 wireless points were installed by technicians. A follow-up survey to Russell Hall showed that students were satisfied with the changes, and additional residence halls were upgraded during the summer.

As additional residence halls are upgraded, residents in those buildings will receive notices.

Please contact the EITS Help Desk at 706-542-3106 for any questions or concerns regarding PAWS-Secure wireless.
