University Cablevision to transition service to DISH Network

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

University Cablevision, the University of Georgia’s on-campus cable TV system, will transition from DirecTV to DISH Network during the week of December 19-23.

Channels will be transitioned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that week. Twelve networks will be unavailable for one hour at a time during the maintenance window. Customers can expect to experience most of the network outages December 19-21.

This scheduled maintenance does not require customers to reprogram their televisions.

In addition, due to the contract terms, some networks will be removed. However, there will also be an addition of new networks added to the University Cablevision lineup.

Some of the networks that will be removed include: Game Show Network, ESPN Classic, VH1 Classic, FYI, Lifetime Movies and National Geographic Wild.

Some of the new additions include: BBC America, Nick Toons, Cinemax, FXX and HBO Comedy.

A list of all the upcoming network changes is available on the cable TV channel listing page.

Updates about this maintenance will be posted on the UGA Systems Status website.
