Effective November 2020, eligible students, faculty and staff will have access to the following tools in Google Workspace:

  • Google Drive
  • Google Docs
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Slides

Gmail and Google Calendar are not included at this time.

Most faculty and staff will receive access on November 16. Most students will receive access on November 30.

After these dates, please visit http://gdrive.uga.edu. You will be directed to UGA SSO, where you should log in with your MyID and password and ArchPass.

G Suite at UGA gives you a secure place to access your UGA-related documents, all for free with your UGA MyID account. In G Suite, you can easily access multiple Google tools, including Drive, Docs, Sheet and Slides, and collaborate on files from those tools with colleagues and classmates.

During Phase 1 of the rollout of G Suite at UGA, our instance excludes email and calendaring to avoid duplication of services. The Microsoft Office 365 platform is the University’s current primary email and calendaring solution.

EITS will continue to re-evaluate service offerings, and additional services may be rolled out in future phases based off campus needs and feedback.

If you already have an existing Google Account that you log into using your UGAMail address, you can expect communications from the EITS Help Desk about migrating your account to UGA's instance of G Suite.

Those with existing Google Accounts will be migrated to UGA's instance of G Suite on January 8.

Please submit a Help Desk request  to let us know if you’d like to migrate your content before January 8, or if you would like to decline account migration. If you decline migration, you will be required to change your Google log-in to a non-UGA email address.

See our G Suite Migration FAQs for more information.

After you leave UGA, you lose access to your MyID, which means you will lose access to G Suite at UGA account and all documents stored within it. If you have documents or other files you wish to keep, we recommend you move them to a personal Google account before you leave the university.

You can find more information about your MyID account and connected services that are disabled after leaving UGA here.
