Institutional File Storage (IFS) Services
Institutional File Storage (IFS) is a digital file storage option for UGA units that want an affordable storage option to access on a mounted drive on a desktop.
EITS offers three options for IFS:
- Standard IFS
- Secure IFS
- Research IFS
All of these options are available on a cost recovery basis to UGA units and/or researchers. Current rates, specifications and service details are available on the cost recovery pages.
Standard IFS is available to UGA units to manage and store files. Please note that some units directly manage this service for faculty and staff in their units. Please contact your unit’s IT professional for guidance.
Secure IFS is available to UGA units that need to store data with restricted information, such as Social Security numbers or credit card numbers. Secure IFS requires units to also purchase a secure desktop through the Secure VDI service.
Research IFS is available to UGA faculty, postdocs and research staff. Researchers can share data with internal UGA colleagues and externally with non-UGA collaborators (with a guest MyID).
Instructions on how to use Research IFS are available on the EITS Help Desk website. Please be advised these instructions only apply to units who have purchased these services.
