eLC maintenance scheduled over winter holidays
Friday, December 4, 2015
UGA’s learning management system, eLearning Commons (called eLC), will be unavailable during an upgrade that will start on Monday, December 21, at 5 p.m. and will end on Thursday, December 31, at 5 p.m.
This is an upgrade conducted by the University System of Georgia to install a newer version of Brightspace by D2L, which powers eLC. The upgrade will mostly improve existing tools of eLC and will not include major design changes. The complete list of changes is available at http://www.ctl.uga.edu/elc/2015-upgrade.
IMPACT: This upgrade will result in an outage of eLC for ten days. Instructors are encouraged to plan in advance with this outage in mind, including with grade submissions due by Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. Instructors should notify their students of this downtime if there is any reason they need access to eLC after Dec. 21.
ASSISTANCE: eLC is jointly supported by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS). CTL will offer eLC drop-in assistance for instructors in December and January. The dates and times are posted at http://ctl.uga.edu/events/category/elc-workshops.
Classes for spring semester start on Monday, January 11. For technical questions, please contact the EITS Help Desk at 706-542-3106 or helpdesk@uga.edu.
Please be advised the EITS Help Desk will be closed for technical support when the University is closed December 25 through January 1. Instructors who need technical assistance with eLC during that time, or any time, may contact the University System of Georgia’s D2L Help Center at https://d2lhelp.view.usg.edu/
For more information about eLC or this upgrade, please contact Sherry Clouser at sac@uga.edu or 706-542-0525.
EITS will provide technical updates about this change on its Status page at https://status.uga.edu/incident?id=29392.
