Wednesday, January 4, 2012

More than 91 percent of all University of Georgia employees completed SecureUGA — an annual, online set of training modules intended to highlight everyone’s responsibility to protect and secure sensitive and critical data.

All faculty, staff and student workers were required to complete the self-paced modules by Nov. 30.

For 2012, 91.58 percent of all employees completed SecureUGA by the deadline — a slight decrease of 1.01 percent from 2011.

Among faculty members, the completion rate by the Nov. 30 deadline was 94.94 — up 3.26 percent from 2011. The staff completion rate in 2012 was 94.24 percent — down 0.32 percent from the previous year. The student worker completion rate was 85.33 percent — a decrease of 4.99 percent from 2011.

SecureUGA was initially implemented in 2008 and a total of 89.14 percent of all employees completed the training modules by Nov. 30, 2009.

The training modules in SecureUGA include those in sensitive data, social networking, identity theft, viruses, legal downloading, email, copyright, passwords, workplace security and securing portable devices.

SecureUGA is implemented by the University’s Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) through its Office of Information Security.
