Listserv system upgrade scheduled June 20
Thursday, June 12, 2014
The University of Georgia’s listserv system will be upgraded on Friday, June 20 to include a new website for listserv owners and improvements to listserv messages.
UGA maintains more than 6,000 lists on its listserv system, including those used by the University System of Georgia and other USG institutions. The listserv system serves a wide variety of groups, such as those for specific academic courses, student groups, interest groups, religious groups, industry-specific groups, administrative purposes and more.
The upgrade will fix recent compatibility issues with some email providers (such as, Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AOL) that result in some listserv messages appearing garbled, undeliverable or missing attachments.
The new system will primarily be an upgrade to the listserv web interface (listserv.uga.edu) for listserv owners and moderators. The change will not impact general users and people posting messages to listservs via email.
Some of the features of the new listserv website (listserv.uga.edu) include:
- New web design
- Scheduling messages to be posted to listservs by date and time
- Ability to create messages in HTML or plain text
- Reporting insight of subscribers and activity
The upgrade will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20. All existing lists, owners, moderators, subscribers, archived messages and listserv passwords will be migrated to the new system.
Existing passwords will be moved to the listserv system. However, passwords in the new system are case sensitive. Depending on your existing password, it may need to be changed after the upgrade on June 20 to include upper case and lower case letters.
