Planned Maintenance Will Impact UGA IT Services

Friday, March 3, 2017

Red Hat Linux patching will take place starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 3, and will finish at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4.

During this maintenance, users may experience brief outages to the following services: ASD applications, Central Authentication Service (CAS), ftp.uga.edu, web standard hosting, main UGA websites, DataMart, MyID/Contact ID Authentication, Nexpose, Nolij Web, Pinnacle - Telephone Billing and Reporting System, Telephone Services (Paetec) RUSS, Listserv, OIR applications, InfoSec websites, Oracle Databases, SMTP Mail Gateway, SVN, Core Web Hosting, and the Welcome to UGA wireless network.

Then, starting around 11 a.m. on Saturday, there will be additional maintenance that will result in a brief outage of in-bound and off-bound campus Internet access and web applications based on campus.

For this maintenance, the Peabody firewalls will be updated. The Boyd Data Center and departmental firewalls will also undergo network maintenance.

The maintenance work will impact people accessing UGA technology services both on and off the main Athens campus during the maintenance times.

For people on campus during the maintenance window, they may experience brief disruptions accessing external, non-UGA web services, such as the Internet and UGAMail.

For people off campus during the maintenance window, they may experience brief disruptions accessing UGAMail, websites hosted by UGA, the main UGA website (www.uga.edu), the Virtual Private Network (VPN), Archpass and web services hosted by EITS. They may also experience disruptions to UGA’s Central Authentication System (CAS) to log in to UGA-provided web services, such as Athena, eLearning Commons (eLC), lynda.com and the UGA Employee Self Service website.

After the maintenance is completed, application owners are advised to test their web applications.

Updates on these maintenance items will be posted on the UGA Systems Status website at status.uga.edu.
