New system implemented for making large conference calls

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

The University of Georgia has upgraded its conference calling system to a service provided by AT&T for larger conference calls that include at least seven participants.

Conference calls with six or fewer participants may continue to use any University digital phone.

In order to provide better, more reliable service, UGA is transitioning to the new service provided by AT&T. Those who have pending conference calls scheduled with the current Avaya conference bridge service will be contacted by directory assistance.

The new system for large conference calls includes after-hours support and support without limitations on time or the number of participants.

It is recommended that those arranging conference calls immediately contact their Departmental Telephone Representatives (DTR) to coordinate ordering an AT&T audio conference account for their department. There are no limits to the number of lines a department may order.

The AT&T service is billed at 2.9 cents per minute per user.
