New Duo Step Required for Microsoft 365 Logins – Starting September 23
Wednesday, July 23, 2025
Beginning Tuesday, September 23, 2025, all UGA Microsoft 365 account holders—including students, faculty, staff, retirees, and departmental users—will complete an additional step when signing in to Microsoft 365 services from off campus.
Impacted Services include:
- UGAMail
- Teams
- Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, etc.)
- OneDrive For Business
- Other services available through your Microsoft 365 account
What’s Changing?
If you are signing in to your account off campus:
- Enter your MyID@uga.edu address and password as usual.
- You will be prompted with a new screen:
3. Click “Approve with UGA ArchPass Duo.”
4. Complete the login using your normal Duo authentication method.
Why the Change?
Microsoft requires this extra step for organizations that use a third-party multi-factor authentication system (like UGA’s ArchPass Duo) instead of Microsoft’s native tool.
What Else You Should Know
- You will need to reauthenticate on all devices where you access your UGA Microsoft 365 account. This includes web browsers, desktop applications, as well as mobile Mail apps on Apple and Android devices.
- This applies to all off-campus logins, including web browsers, desktop apps, and mobile apps. If you are on campus, Duo bypass rules still apply.
- After reauthenticating on a device, your normal Duo prompt frequency will resume.
