UGA students and employees who use personal Microsoft OneDrive accounts to store and share files should be advised of a change to their storage limits.
Beginning in July, the free storage limit for personal OneDrive accounts will decrease from 15GB to 5GB. Users will begin to receive notice of this change soon.
This change will affect any student, or faculty or staff member who was provisioned an account by the University of Georgia from 2010 to 2013, as well as anyone who has a OneDrive account through a personal email address, such as a Gmail account.
OneDrive for Business, another online file-sharing and storage service provided by Microsoft to all UGA students and employees through their web-based UGAMail accounts, will not be affected by this change.
Users who need more than 5GB of storage in their personal OneDrive are advised to move their files to OneDrive for Business, which offers users 1TB of free file storage.
Users also have the option of purchasing more storage for their personal OneDrive from Microsoft for a fee, or moving their files to another cloud service, such as Google Docs.
