Skillsoft, Books 24x7 services to end July 2016

Monday, December 14, 2015

Skillsoft an online training tool, and Books 24x7, an online books resource, will no longer be available to University students, faculty and staff after July 31, 2016.

These services are being decommissioned due to costs compared to usage. Both services are available on the MyUGA Portal under a link to Skillsoft.

Users are encouraged to save any documentation on their completed courses, if they need it in the future. Documentation on completed courses will be inaccessible after July 31, 2016.

While Skillsoft and Books 24x7 will no longer be available, the University offers other online resources to help meet training and instructional needs.

Both Lynda.com and Microsoft IT Academy are free for UGA students, faculty and staff.

Lynda.com, which is part of LinkedIn, offers thousands of online video tutorials on topics about business, education, video, web design, web development, and more. Lynda.com can be accessed via the MyUGA Portal.

Microsoft IT Academy offers courses for students, faculty and staff to develop their technical skills and prepare for technical certifications.

Information on accessing Microsoft IT Academy is available on the EITS website at: http://eits.uga.edu/learning_and_training/microsoft_imagine_academy/.
