There are many factors to consider when buying a computer for college. UGA offers a few guidelines for new students on computer requirements and software.

What kind of computer should I buy? 

Mac or PC, it's up to you! We recommend a laptop with a word processor you can connect to the Internet.

Does my college require a specific type of computer?

Some colleges, like business, recommend PCs over Macs, but a PC is not required. Talk to your advisor for more info.

What software do I need? 

Your professors will let you know if you need specific software for class. But UGA also offers some software for free! Visit software.uga.edu.

Where can I get my computer repaired?

The UGA Bookstore offers computer repair for a nominal fee. There are also several off-campus options.
