If you’re new to the University of Georgia, welcome! We are so glad you’re part of the Bulldog Nation.

UGA offers many different software packages to students. Before you purchase any software that you need for class, make sure to check out what’s available to you for free or at a discount.

To get you started, we’ve made a list of software that you can get for free or at a discount just for being a student here at UGA:

• Microsoft Office 365: All eligible UGA students, faculty and staff have free access to the Microsoft software package, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and more. You can download it on up to 10 personal devices. New incoming students get access to download Microsoft Office as soon as their fees are registered as paid, usually a week before classes start. Here’s how to download it.

• Zoom: Zoom is an online video conferencing tool that is free to all UGA students, faculty and staff. To get a UGA licensed version of Zoom, go to zoom.uga.edu and login with your UGA MyID and password. You can download Zoom on your computer, tablet and smart phone. Also, here are some fun UGA-branded Zoom backgrounds.

• Qualtrics: Qualtrics is a free, web-based survey tool that allows you to easily design and implement your own UGA-branded surveys for a class or student organization. You can also invite participants and view survey results all on one platform. If you’d like to use Qualtrics, you will need to request an account.

• UGAAlert: When emergencies happen on campus, like severe weather, you will want to be informed. Make sure your information is correct in the UGAAlert system so you’ll receive a text and phone call when a UGAAlert message is issued. It’s also a good idea to download the free desktop application so a message will pop up on your computer screen.

• Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe CC is a software package that includes Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom and more. UGA students, faculty and staff can get Adobe products at a discount here. Be sure to use your UGA credentials when purchasing. Adobe applications are available for Mac OSX, Windows, iOS and Android devices.
